Honda Robot Leg

While doing my research I came across a new thing that Honda have created which is a robot leg. Honda call it a walking assist device with bodyweight support system.

To use the robot legs the wearer slips on the special shoes and adjusts the seat so that it supports there weight. Two motors move the frame and seat position while lithium-ion batteries keep the system powered for about two hours on a full charge.

Honda say that the device helps support bodyweight to reduce the load on an individuals legs while walking, going up and down stairs, and in a semi crouching position. The device is designed for people who are capable of walking and maneuvering on there own, but who can benefit from additional leg and body support while performing tasks.
The walking assist device with the bodyweight support system reduces the load on leg muscles and joints (in the hip, knees and ankles) by supporting a portion of the persons bodyweight.

I think that this device connects really well with this brief and my views on it showing that we are relying more and more on technology and having things that we don't really need and that are just making us lazy. I don't feel that people would benefit from this device, I just feel that it wouldn't help people in anyway but make them worse by them not having to use there leg muscles as much or there hips, knees or ankles. I feel that this device would be good for people who maybe couldn't walk or who have leg problems but this device wasn't made for that it has been made for people who can walk and don't really need this device.
