The film is about Wall-e (Waste, Allocation, Load, Lifter, Earth class) a small cleaning robot that is trying to clean up a city because the worlds become a mess and become abandoned and full of rubbish that the humans have created. They have decided to leave earth and in the beginning there were lots of Wall-e's now there is only one Wall-e to clean up while they go off in a space cruise ship for five years into space. They have all sorts of new technology on the ship including hover chairs 'so there's no need to walk'.
The humans send down to earth a robot called Eve to find out if theres any plant life left on earth. Wall-e ends up going with Eve back to the space cruise ship and discovers that its run by robots and the robots do everything. You can see that when Wall-e gets to seeing people on the ship they have changed a lot from when they first went. They all use hover chairs (no body walks) they all wear the same matching all in one suits and have a screen constantly in front of there face and they have all become really fat because the robots do everything for them, they do nothing for themselves.
There lives are surrounded by technology. The announcer tells them that 'what you have is everything you need to be happy'. They have even forgot how to walk. Anything they get told by the robots they do. When they get detached from there chairs they see what they've been missing while they've been so obsessed with the technology. They have stayed on the ship for 700 years and forgot normal life without technology, most of them dont even no any different. When they get Eve (Extra terrestrial, Vegetation, Evaluator) with the plant she found they can go back home. And when they start to learn about the world and what its like they get excited and want to go but the robots aren't happy about them leaving and going back because they feel they will have no purpose if the humans start doing things for themselves.
As the humans start getting ready to go back to earth some of the robots get angry and try to stop them. As this is happening the ship tilts and the humans fall out of there hover chairs. Eventually when they start setting off getting back to earth the humans stand up and start to learn to walk, which is new for them because all the technology has gone from around them. When they get to earth the humans are excited to start doing things themselves without all the help of all the technology they had and feel better without it.
I think that this film is trying to get a very important message across saying that this could happen to us, we could become this dependant and addicted to technology that we forgot what we were like before and I feel like this is already starting to happen to us even if we're not realising it and its not as bad as it shows in this film yet. But I think that we have to be very careful with how attached we are starting to get to technology because it might be that we do turn out like the people in this film and thats what the future will be like for us.
